The Nicaraguan non-governmental organization NGO AMOS, founded in 2007, was working to empower rural communities to identify their health needs and develop action plans to address them. Dr. Laura Chanchien Parajon, medical director and co-founder of AMOS was analyzing the extension of the model applied in rural areas to urban areas of the country.
